Memoirs of a garden

Looking back on my time creating a Japanese garden for the 2015 Gardening World cup is full of fondness. In the Japanese Garden show Ross & I gained a 2nd place, but it was never about the competition. The same as my approach with my company, collaborate over compete every time, as sure one man can move a rock, but together we can move mountains. And after 10 days of challenges with the japanese garden, incorrect deliveries, wrong contractors for the job (a highway maintenance team building a structure), language barriers ordering & sourcing materials, oh and not to mention the typhoon…. the entire time trying to remain like the calm in an eye of a storm, in was in the last hectic hour still so far from completion, we had 3 different teams of international competitors join our site and pitch in so we could get finished on time! The bonds & shared experiences I had is what made the whole journey an enriching & joyful time that I’ll never forget… connection is what it’s all about. Being surrounded with like mind people and sharing our passion for landscape design & construction filled me with inspiration… one of those grounding moments, where you realise you are exactly on the right path. It was an absolute privilege to be involved in the Gardening World Cup, an experience which now makes up fond memories. Looking forward to taking the entire Bayon crew to particpate in a fun and manic 10 days.
